MIN JI CHOI
My name is Min Ji Choi, and I am a South Korean girl born in Guatemala. I lived my early childhood in the United States, Illinois, Chicago, and Guatemala. I attended Christian Academy of Guatemala (CAG) for thirteen years, and it has strongly impacted my life academically and spiritually molding me into who I am today.

"Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and He will establish your plans."
Proverbs 16:3
MISSION STATEMENT:
To live a life that is both meaningful and good that helps me understand God, others, and myself

Living a meaningful and good life is a hard journey that takes time, effort, and dedication. It starts with understanding oneself and others, which can be achieved through empathy, self-reflection, and open-mindedness. Mainly through service projects, I truly believe that “understanding” is crucial. One can have everything in the world, but feeling alone and thinking nobody understands you is a different feeling and topic. Consequently, I wish that through my passion and ability, I can become someone that people can trust and know can understand in them.
VISION STATEMENT:
Become a better version, and be a good model to others

As a person who has experienced multiculturalism, I want to continue to expand my knowledge and be someone who can understand the many perspectives that exist today, writing and voicing opinions about the world and the people that live in it. In the near future, after graduating from high school, I wish to major in media and communication, where I can learn to be more ethical, committed to diversity and inclusivity, embrace technology for the public good, and encourage critical thinking about media from all backgrounds. It has been my dream since childhood to be the one on TV reporting current events and writing riveting stories behind the scenes that can impact the way people think and tell, so I hope to one day be one of the communicators and thus become one of the people that can change the world for the better.

Journal
My journal is a valuable small book that holds so much meaning. my diary is like a secret friend that I can tell anything, where I can vent my frustrations, share my hopes and dreams, and work through my problems. When life gets overwhelming, writing in my diary helps me feel better. Besides, it is fun to look back on old entries and see how much I've grown and changed over time. In high school, there are so many things going on – classes, friends, colleges– and sometimes it feels like nobody understands what you're going through. But with my diary, I always have someone to turn to who won't judge me or try to give me advice, but myself and God. It is just a safe space for me to be myself and express whatever is on my mind.

Shell Collection
The seashell collection I've amassed over the years is more than just a hobby for me. It's a reminder of all the places I've been fortunate enough to visit and a symbol of my love for the ocean. When I'm feeling stressed or overwhelmed with schoolwork, taking a few moments to examine each shell and recall where and when I found it helps ground me and put things into perspective. Plus, it always amazes me how seashells can be formed differently by temperature, pH of water, and region; such a simple thing becomes a complex thing that can have texture, unique color, and sound of the wave. But beyond that, my collection is also an important part of my identity. It sets me apart from others and showcases my unique interests and experiences. As a high school student trying to figure out who I am and what I want to do with my life, having this tangible representation of myself is incredibly valuable.

CHS & QS Badge
The CHS and QS badges are symbols of my academic excellence and persistence throughout high school. These badges represent the countless hours I spent studying, having the consistent heart to serve, and leading events both in and out of school. The badges I earned from the National Honors Society and Quill and Scroll remind me of the challenges I overcame, the obstacles I faced, and the achievements I earned, and they inspire me to continue striving for excellence in all aspects of my life.
