INTRODUCTION

Since I have grown in a Christian background, I memorized verses, read the whole bible, took certain bible study plan, etc. Despite my knowledge, I am not a perfect Christian that knows everything about the Bible or God's character. Nonetheless, it does not make me a non-Christian. Until now, I have taken bible classes where I obtain new knowledge about areas that I thought I knew. As an illustration, my Bible teacher, taught me that "judgment" is not what I thought it meant. I have been observing it to mean, "an action expressing a bad opinion or thought about a person." Additionally, both of my parents have always told me that judgment is bad because I am expressing something negative towards a person, and I should not do it since I too make mistakes.

Exploring the thesaurus, I discovered that it also means "to express a bad opinion of someone's behavior, often because you think you are better than them," in that sense, I believe it was detrimental. However, my bible teacher, Miss. Park has brought me a new perspective about the word '"judgment."

Within a few months, she has taught me many biblical truths such as justification, sexual purity, shame, and other biblical, essential concepts. Despite the fact they were subjects or topics that I have learned in the past. I learned something "really" important from her lectures, and it was the true meaning of judgment.

Many people like me learned that judgment is bad; however, that is not the truth. Well ... partially more likely.

Unexpected, New Lesson...

SO... CAN WE JUDGE

In the beginning, we discussed whether if we are permitted to judge. According to Matthew 7: 1-6, we can first infer that its claim to not judge, for those who did will also be judged. Furthermore, if we continue, this could also imply that we can freely express our opinions about doctrine and deeds (We must not take verses out of context). Although the verse affirms that we can judge, there is a particular manner we must do so.

We Can Express Freely Our Opinions about Doctrines and Deeds... but in a Particular Way

ACCOUNTABLE FOR OUR JUDGMENTS

In this verse, it is also mentioned that we should hold people accountable if we correct them. If we judge with aggression, then we can expect to be judged with aggression. However, notice that the Son of God, Jesus does not say to sit idly as your brother has a speck in his eye. From this, we can learn that we are supposed to judge others out of love and; we need to make sure we are also carefully judging ourselves. Even though we remove the plank in our eyes, Jesus still says we must remove the speck in our brother’s. (Matthew 7: 1-5)

Judge Others Out of Care and Kindness

IF THE JUDGMENT IS AGAINST THE BIBLE THEN IT SHOULD BE JUDGED WRONG

However, if the judgment goes against the truth, then it must be judged as wrong because there is only an ultimate truth, no argument. The Bible claims itself to be perfect and absolute truth. Psalm 19:7, " The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.” Psalm 119:142 also affirms, “Your righteousness is everlasting and your law is true.” In other words, without error.

The Law of The Lord is Perfect, Without Error

HOW JUDGMENT IS GOOD

Many would think, okay, so we can judge but in a specific manner, but is it really good? Well according to the bible, it is good actually, and surprisingly, it claims that it should be the mechanism of dealing with sin.

Good Judgment Should be Used as The Mechanism of Dealing With Sin

CONCLUSION

After reading this, do not simply walk away knowing that judgment is good. I encourage you all to judge those that need it, people who need to realize their mistakes, moreover help them and do it with a good heart. When you judge, remember that your own judgment can be judged if it is against the Bible and you must take accountable for your own judgment. Not only that, spread awareness to other people such as your friends, neighbors, family, and people you love, so they can know the truth that may change their perspective.
